Morty is the assistant maintenance engineer on Station V3. Morty is a Vitezian Slime Fungus, a variety of intelligent mushroom. Morty was generally not known to talk, but since a shift into an alternate universe, he and Neap have been able to communicate with the rest of the crew without any apparent difficulty.
