The Station, The Galaxy, and Other Things
You wouldn't know it from the amount I've been posting on the blog here lately, but the past few months have been the busiest in terms of visitors/site traffic/etc. since the comic started! So I'd like to say hello to all the new readers, and thank everyone for reading! (Hello! Thank you!)
Tomorrow is
Free Comic Book Day (or today, depending on when you read this) - In previous years I'd sometimes bring a photocopied and stapled Station V3 mini-comic to
Comics on the Green and
Unknown Comics, and they'd be nice enough to let me put it out on the table with the other free comics. However, since a good number of you don't happen to live in Northeast Pennsylvania, this year instead you can download the PDF version of
An Experimental Space Pod Visits Station V3 for free!
In other news, coming up on May 6, Station V3 turns 7! In addition to the (virtual) cake and ice cream, the annual guest strip week will be coming up the following Sunday to celebrate!
And finally, there's a new bonus strip up to see when you vote for Station V3 at
TopWebcomics - by
request, the station's original Plant is back for revenge!

Q16 Milestone
There's a milestone reached in the Station V3 universe today -
Silence in the Darkness on Q16 had its 1,000th strip go up today!
(Most of them are dark, and many are also silent - but there are 1,000 of them!)

V3 is 6!
Six years ago, Floyd thought a plant might cheer the station up, and Ebb listened to him make that observation. Now Floyd's been rebuilt as a rumorbot, Ebb has been replaced with Neap, the original Plant is off in an alternate universe, and the station is apparently at the bottom of a swamp on a planet known as "The Celestial Orb With Soil On It" - and who knows what's going to happen next?
(Well, of course I do, but I'm not saying yet!)
I hope everyone's enjoying this year's guest week, with contributions (so far) from
Aaron Lewis,
Robert Cook, and
Wendy Wood!
In other news,
Ebb's Children actually updated today, and there's a
new episode of
PodWarp 1999 up!

It's been busy, and so have I
Well, Station V3 did end up in the top 40 on the Topwebcomics list in March - so there's another
new bonus (a bad translation of today's strip) up now! And since the one before last was in December, I guess this does qualify as "sooner" like I said last month! (I would have had one up "even sooner," but things have been busy lately.)
Some comic milestones -
Z7 turned 5 earlier this month, and
Silence in the Darkness on Q16 turned 2! And next week Station V3 turns 6 - time for another guest strip week, starting Sunday! (If you're interested in drawing one, there's still time to get one in for later in the week!)

2001: A V3 Odyssey
Today's strip had to have a monolith in it, of course.

2000th strip!
Today's strip is a double-sized daily update, to celebrate it being the 2000th strip in the archives - I hope you enjoyed it (and the other 1999)! (Some of those 1999 strips - as well as a few that aren't online at all - can be found in
An Experimental Space Pod Visits Station V3! which is on sale through this weekend for $8.99 plus shipping!)
And if you're looking for more Station V3-related strips to read after that,
all three spinoffs also updated today! (Yes, even
Ebb's Children!)

V3: 1999
Today's strip is the 1,999th strip in the archives! (So guess what number tomorrow's is?)
In other 1999-related news, Episode 27 of
PodWarp 1999 went up last week (with guest David C. Simon of
Crimson Dark)!
In unrelated news, I've made the
RSS feed a little more visible (the feed itself hasn't changed, but now there's a permanent front page link for it), and added my
Twitter feed to the front page.

And in other news...
V3 reader Daniel Ellingson has created some interesting things with the Spore Creature Creator - including a very nice version of
Julius the Rumormonger!
In addition to Julius, today's comic reveals that one of the other rumormongers is named Marco, and yesterday's revealed that one of them is named Kyle. (There's a little
trivia question about Kyle on the forum!)
Silence in the Darkness on Q16 recently had its
500th strip go up! (Still dark - but not always silent.)
Two new episodes of
PodWarp 1999 have gone up recently - a short Episode 22 with just me,
Mark Mekkes, and guest
Aaron Lewis, and a regular-length Episode 23 with the regular PodWarp crew!
And finally, I've updated the voting bonuses - there's a sprite strip up at
TopWebcomics, and a bad translation of today's strip up at the all-new redesigned
buzzComix. Thanks for voting!

V3 is 5!
Five years ago, I put the
first Station V3 strip up where not many people were going to see it, apart from the few people I told. Probably more people see that strip on any day now than saw it that whole first month! Of course, that's been true for a while, and partly due to the fact that around a dozen or so people saw it that month. But still - progress! And thanks for reading, however long it's been for you!
I hope everyone's enjoying all the great guest strips this week! Today's is from Aaron Lewis of
The Best of What's Left, and yesterday's was from Kristina Foster of
Antics. Stay tuned for more great stuff coming up!
(But don't think I'm just sitting back and relaxing while these are up! I'm working ahead, and of course, updating
Z7 and
Silence in the Darkness on Q16 - which was neither silent nor dark today! And
Ebb's Children might even update this week.)

Guest Week
It's time for Station V3's annual birthday guest week! Getting things started is today's comic from Krishna Sadasivam of
The PC Weenies and
Uncubed. Stay tuned for more great guest comics coming up this week!
(If you wanted to be part of the guest week, it's not too late - though I will say it's too late to be first!)

Birthdays, bonuses, and things
Somehow I managed to forget
Z7's birthday again - a couple days ago (on the 5th) it turned four.
Station V3 will be turning five next month (on the 6th), and once again, the planned birthday festivities include a guest strip week - so if you're interested in drawing a guest strip, let me know! (Or just send one in!)
In other news, today's new bonuses are a
bad translation of today's strip, and a
sprite strip in which a rumormonger with a hat plans to try out for Rumormonger Idol. Thanks for voting!
And in other other news, another new episode of
PodWarp 1999 is up!

Comic #1581
Today's comic is the 1581st in the archives.
(After
1541 and
1571, this one was inevitable! I couldn't do 1551 because I don't have one of those, and I didn't think of it at 1531. And the 1531 is a tape drive, anyway.)

Comic #1571
Today's comic is the 1571st in the archives. So, to mark the occasion...
(Some of you may have been expecting this today after
this photo went up for the 1541st strip 30 days ago...)

Q16 Milestone
Today's
Silence in the Darkness on Q16 strip was the 100th one.
...That's 99 more than I originally planned to do!

4th of July
Happy 4th of July to everyone reading this - whether you happen to be celebrating a holiday today or not!
Today marks another milestone for Station V3... The 1500th strip! (Of course, a few of those are guest strips, but there are more than enough
bonus strips to make up for that!)
And speaking of bonus strips, there are two new ones up today -
fireworks and a
really bad translation of today's strip. Thanks for voting!
