Adventures in Podcasting

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Last month, Ben Paddon of the comic Jump Leads invited me to join him, Tauhid Bondia (Good Ship Chronicles), Jim Francis (Outsider), and Mark Mekkes (Zortic) weekly for a sci-fi webcomic podcast, which we’ve named PodWarp 1999.

The first installments of the podcast are now online for all to hear – if you’re the sort of person who enjoys sci-fi and/or webcomics (and I’m assuming most of you reading this probably are!), listen to an episode or four and let us know what you think!

Mike Smith, R.I.P.

Mike Smith, the lead singer and keyboard player of the Dave Clark Five, has died of pneumonia at the age of 64, less than two weeks before the group’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Related: Pomegranate

As some of you probably know, LiveJournal has little “SnapShot” windows that pop up to give a preview of the page a link leads to. In addition to the preview, it lists some related searches. At the moment, for a link to the Station V3 book for sale at Lulu.com, it lists “Pomegranate” as one of the related searches. I’m not quite sure how it came up with that! But if you’re looking for a book to read, I’d recommend the V3 book instead of the pomegranate. On the other hand, the pomegranate would probably taste better. So if you’re hungry, eat the pomegranate. (While reading the book, for best results!)

It also listed “Dark Shadows” and “Blue Whale” as related searches. Related to each other, yes, but I’m not sure how they connect to Station V3! (Or the pomegranate.)

Answering my email in public

Monday, December 31st, 2007

It occurs to me that some of the things I said in replies to recent email might be of interest to some more of you, so:

If you tried registering for the forum but never got your activation email, check to see if it got filtered as spam. If you still can’t find it, email me and I’ll activate your account.

And:

There is an RSS feed of Station V3, at http://www.stationv3.com/comic.xml.

Also:

Someone is around the corner from my house with something that has a very loud engine – like a snowmobile, except there really isn’t enough snow for that right now. It’s very annoying.

(Okay, that last one wasn’t really a reply to anybody’s email. But it could have been!)

Glad All Over

A little bit of news that has nothing to do with the comic – after being nominated three years in a row, The Dave Clark Five will finally be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame!
