I haven't said anything here since Sunday... I feel like I should at least post something like "the bonuses are updates, thanks for voting!"
So...
The bonuses are updated! Two random drawings (in color!)
here and
here, and a bad translation of today's strip (in black and white!)
here!
Thanks for voting! :)
Three new bonus strips today, from requests on the
forum -
Rumormonger Idol continues, The Plant
comes back to check on Plant Jr, and the Dangerous Lunatic In Suspended Animation seen a couple days ago
escapes!
I'd like to thank everyone who's been voting for Station V3 (again!) - people are still finding V3 for the first time through the voting lists, and your vote helps move it up where it gets noticed. :)
To mark the occasion(?) of American Idol's return to the airwaves, there are two new voting bonuses today (a
strip and a
sketch) dealing with TV on the rumormonger's planet!
There was a
news article on Comixpedia last month that briefly mentioned
ComicOstrich as a webcomic collective that seems worth checking out. I thought that was interesting, since at the time it wasn't really a collective... but it did seem like a good use for the site, so it's gone through a little bit of a redesign, and that's what it is now! The member comics so far (besides Station V3 and Z7) are
Alternate Delusions by Tim Volpe,
Beyond Reality by Orion Gates, and
The Mansion of E by Robert Cook.
The redesign to the ComicOstrich site wasn't too extensive (at least not yet) - front page links to the member comics, and the addition of a blog. You've probably noticed the little ComicOstrich link exchange box for the member comics here (to the right) and on the other comics' sites, and of course there was already a
ComicOstrich forum. The semi-hosted comics that were there before (including
Ebb's Children) are still there, since it seemed like a shame to take down the script after I got it to at least a semi-usable state! :)
In other comic-related news, there was a "draw Batgirl" meme that was going around LiveJournal the other day. Of course, I had to do it too...
And in non-comic news, it seems the new Dr. Who will be seen on US TV - or at least on US cable TV. Specifically, the Sci-Fi channel will be showing it. According to
this article on the BBC's Dr. Who site, they'll be showing it on Fridays at 9 PM starting in March.
Recently in the comic we've found out the replacement Station V3 has an automatic shuttle docking system and an automatic defense system. Today's new voting bonus sketches (
here,
here, and
here) show some of the other possible automatic systems the new station might have!
Today's new bonuses are: An
alternate version of today's strip, a
bad tranlation of today's strip, and a
bad translation of the alternate version of today's strip. (So I hope you like today's strip!) Thank You to everyone who's been voting!
Today's
bonus strip, by request - a little bit of a situation has developed over on the disabled V3 search mission ship. And Linton's released
a record about it!
Today over at
The Mansion of E, there's a guest strip I drew - take a look! (And while you're there, there's a couple years of great stuff to read, if you haven't already!)
The
bonus archive is now complete up to the end of 2005 - so everything's there except the
three new ones that went up earlier today!
At the
beginning of 2005, Station V3 was experiencing time/space disturbances. That problem was gone by the
end of the year, but there were a few new problems, like the station exploding and half the crew being stuck on the disabled search mission ship. Hopefully things will go a little better for the guys on V3-A!
Things changed a bit for V3 here in the "real world," too... the strip switched to daily color in May (with some previous months also switching to color), and moved off KeenSpace/ComicGenesis at the beginning of October. And there are more daily readers now than there were a year ago, which is a nice trend that I hope continues!
V3 hit the top 40 on the voting lists a couple times last year (including on buzzComix and Webcomics List last month), which could be one of the reasons there were more readers! To get things started this month, here are the first three voting bonuses of 2006: a post-New Year's party
strip, a
picture of a rejected replacement for V3, and a
bad translation of today's strip, in which the crew flies to the station in their Double Poppet.
Thanks for reading, and I'll try to keep things interesting in 2006! :)
